On November 8, 2014, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center held a meeting on the construction of non-directly affiliated hospitals. The two sides signed an agreement on medical, teaching and research cooperation, and unveiled Guangzhou Women and Children’s Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, the ninth non-directly affiliated hospital of SYSU.

Prof. Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU; Ms. Chen Yini, Director of Bureau of Heath of Guangzhou Municipality; Prof. Xiao Haipeng, Dean of Medical Education of SYSU; Prof. Xia Huimin, Director of Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center; Mr. Geng Chunhua, Party Secretary of Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center; and medical experts from SYSU affiliated hospitals attended the meeting and witnessed the unveiling ceremony.
Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center was established in September 2006 on the basis of Guangzhou Children’s Hospital and Guangzhou Women and Children’s Heath Institute. It is a medical institution of prevention, treatment, healthcare, teaching and research.
