Recently, Itovan, president of the New Kobe Mechanical and Electrical Kabuskiki Kaisha, together with other four has visited SYSU, and signed a scientific cooperation agreement with SYSU in the field of storage battery. This is the first time for this company to carry out a cooperative research in critical materials for lead-acid cells with a Chinese college. Xu Jiarui the vice-president of SYSU, Wang Xuehua the vice dean of School of Technology, Professor Shen Peikang principal of the project and other members of the Office of Science and Technology have attended the signing ceremony.

The New Kobe Mechanical and Electrical Kabuskiki Kaisha is the second largest battery company in Japan. This time, its cooperative research with SYSU is mainly in the investigation of new lead-acid battery with long-life and high-capacity, which will benefit the development of auto industry in both countries.
