A meeting was recently held by Commission of Politics and Law of the CPC Central Committee for discussing judicial expertise reform. The entitlement of state-level judicial forensic institutions and their publication was discussed on the meeting. On October 22, The Legal Daily published the list of the ten judicial forensic institutions that were entitled as state-level, the Center for Forensic Appraisals of SYSU was on the list.

The selection board of State-level Judicial Forensic Institutions, which is under the lead of Commission of Politics and Law of the CPC Central Committee started the three-staged selection of state-level judicial forensic institutions since 2009. The Department of Forensic Medicine of SYSU was chosen as a State-level Judicial Forensic Institution after the departmental assessment, expert review, and the evaluation of the selection board.

The selection of state-level judicial forensic institutions is an important part of judicial expertise reform. I t aims to reduce the repeated identification in judicial activities. The level of Judicial expertise and its scientificalness, authority and Credibility will be improved. The System of Judicial Identification will have a great role to play in promoting impartial justice, improving judicial efficiency and setting judicial authority.
