On the afternoon of April14, being invited by the School of Oceanography of SYSU, Mr. jin Qing-Huan, the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, former chief engineer of Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey of Ministry of Land and Resources, adjunct professor of SYSU, visited our university and gave an academic lecture named as “Prospective New Energy---Natural Gas Hydrate” in Huaishi Hall. The dean of the School of Oceanography, He Jian-Guo, gave a welcome speech and Prof. Sun Xiao-Ming hosted the lecture.

Academician Jin Qing-Huan presented a systematic and comprehensive introduction to several aspects concerning natural gas hydrate, like the global energy situation, the discovery of natural gas hydrate, the status quo of the research and development at home and abroad as well as the preliminary progress of the research and development of natural gas hydrate in China. The lecture has deepened the understanding and knowledge of natural gas hydrate of both teachers and students present.
