According to the working arrangements of our university, in order to complete the strategic planning of the development of Engineering and Applied Disciplines, on the morning of April 21, our university held the seminar for the development of Engineering and Applied Disciplines, President Xu Ningsheng attended the seminar and delivered a speech. Directors of relevant functional departments of our university, vice deans for scientific research of relevant schools and departments, and heads of all technology innovation platforms, have attended the meeting. This meeting was hosted by Vice President Xu Anlong.

The theme of this seminar is “How to carry out research on Engineering and Applied Disciplines of our university?”, researcher Liu Wei, Deputy Director of Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, was invited to give a special report on Accelerating Independent Innovation, Building the Core Competence of the Future Development of Guangdong Province. Focusing on the three aspects of the current situation, future trends, ways of thinking and emphasis of Guangdong scientific and technological development, this report introduced the science and technology working prospects of great science and technology, wide openness, and large-scale cooperation that Guangdong was going to construct. Deputy Director Liu Wei acknowledged the contributions that our university has made to the scientific and technological work of our province, and hoped that our university can make greater contribution to the industry chain and regional development of Guangdong. Professor Luo Xiaonan and Professor Tan Hongzhou respectively made keynote speeches of A Brief Discussion on the Work of Production, Teaching and Research of Digital Family and Discussion on the Development of Engineering Discipline.

Soon afterwards, the representatives present carried out a heated discussion on how to enhance the development of Engineering and Applied Disciplines of our university.

President Xu Ningsheng earnestly listened to the representatives and carefully considered their ideas and suggestions on the development of Engineering of our school, and also made working arrangements for the future development and construction of Engineering and Applied Disciplines. He proposed to enhance the development of Engineering and Applied Disciplines through aspects of special funds, patent strategy, evaluation system, personnel system, etc. President Xu Ningsheng particularly emphasized that the research work of Engineering and Applied Disciplines should set its integration with Guangdong’s demands and its contribution to Guangdong’s demands as an important norm for evaluation, so as to make greater contribution to the economic and social development of Guangdong Province.
