The research results of the genome group study of Chinese rhesus macaque and crab-eating macaque, which were led by Professor Yan Guangmei from Zhongshan Medical College, Sun Yat-sen University and co-operated by South China Center for Innovative Pharmaceuticals(SCCIP), BGI, South China University of Technology, Kunming Institute of Zoology and other domestic and overseas institutes, were published on the internationally recognized magazine Nature Biotechnology (IF31.085) on October 16th.

This study marks an important milestone for macaque genome research and plays an important role in people’s better understanding of genetic background differences and different evolutionary histories among macaque monkeys. It also reveals new insights into new drug’s evaluation and study as well as primatology, basic medical science, population genetics, systematic geography and other researches while lays solid scientific foundation for the research of evolutionary medicine.
