At the recently concluded 12th COTA International Conference of Transportation Professionals (CICTP2012), the paper submitted by Prof. Cao Xiaoshu from School of Geography and Planning, SYSU won Best Paper Award. The paper is entitled “Accessibility Distribution Impact Of Intercity Rail Transit Development On Pearl River Delta Region In China”.

The conference was held in Beijing and co-hosted by Beihang University (BUAA), Research Institute of Highway at China Ministry of Transport, and Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA). Over 350 people from China, Canada, Germany, the U.S., the U.K. and other countries and regions attended the conference. Centering on the theme of "Convenient, Safe, Cost-Effective and Efficient Multimodal Transportation", the participants exchanged views on international advanced technologies, future trends of transportation and hot issues in the field. Four best papers were selected from more than 370 papers submitted to the conference. The best papers are from Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Harbin Institute of Technology and Sun Yat-sen University.

The CICTP series, formerly ICCTP (International Conference of Chinese Transportation Professionals), established by COTA and sponsored by ASCE, is the premier gathering for transportation professionals worldwide, and for those who are interested in contributing to or gaining a profound understanding of transportation development in China and other countries. The CICTP 2012 will address the critical issues and challenges emerging from the development of intelligent multimodal transportation systems. The conference will provide a platform for exchanging and sharing of the international experiences in developing and applying countermeasures and advanced technologies in transportation. In addition to technical sessions, several plenary sessions will be set for internationally prestigious experts and scholars to deliver their talks about the state-of-the-art/practice transport development. Other special forms will be focused on the perspectives that are of great interest to the audience of various backgrounds, including the World Bank Transportation Development Forum, Invited Forum of U.S. University Transportation Center, Dean Forum for Chinese University Transportation Schools, and COTA Professional Development Forum for Young Scholars and Students.
