On November 26, the signing ceremony of Jointly Establishing SYSU Huadu Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology between Sun Yat-sen University and Guangzhou Huadu District Government and the unveiling ceremony of State-Province Joint Engineering Laboratory of IOT Chips and System Application Technologies were held in Huadu District. Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee; Yang Yanwen, Secretary of Huadu District Committee of the CPC; Lin Zhongjian, District Mayor; Zhu Chengzhi, Deputy District Mayor; Wang Yanwei, Chairman of Huadu District Political Consultative Conference; Xia Lianghui, Assistant President of SYSU; Lin Minghe, Secretary of Party Committee of the School of Information Science and Technology at SYSU; and Tan Hongzhou, Director of SYSU Huadu Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology attended the ceremonies.

Assistant President Xia Lianghui and Deputy District Mayor Zhu Chengzhi signed the framework agreement of Jointly Establishing SYSU Huadu Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology on behalf of the two sides. Secretary Zheng Detao, Assistant President Xia Lianghui and Director Tan Hongzhou; and District Secretary Yang Yanwen, District Mayor Lin Zhongjian and Chairman Wang Yanwei jointly unveiled the State-Province Joint Engineering Laboratory of IOT Chips and System Application Technologies.

The purpose of jointly establishing the SYSU Huadu Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology is to further help Huadu District of Guangzhou City to improve its capability of independent innovation, develop strategic emerging industries and construct modern industrial system, as well as to achieve SYSU’s objectives of serving society, serving local development and serving enterprises. In 2008, the two sides implemented the instruction spirit of establishing strategic cooperative relationship between Guangzhou City and SYSU, and jointly founded the SYSU Huadu Research Institute. After four years of development, it has begun to take shape and attained remarkable achievements. The two sides have decided to strengthen and deepen cooperation on the present basis and set up the SYSU Huadu Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology, which will take the opportunity of the construction of state-province joint engineering laboratory to carry out the construction of electronic information, medical health, financial service, talent aggregation and platform construction, and better serve the local economic construction.
