SYSBS Strategic Advisory Board Meeting was grandly held at Swasey Hall on December 17. The Board, consisting of political and business leaders of all professional fields at home and abroad as well as outstanding scholars from overseas business schools, aims to provide strategic advice and directive guidance in terms of SYSBS’ development at present and in the future. The meeting was considered as the first annual meeting since the establishment of SYSBS Strategic Advisory Board in 2011.
The Strategic Advisory Board Members attended the meeting, including Prof. Ruihua LU, former governor of Guangdong Province and honorary dean of SYSBS; Prof. Rongrong LI, CPPCC Committee member, deputy director of CPPCC Economic Committee, and former director of State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of State Council; Mr. Ming-Jer CHEN, Leslie E. Grayson Professor of Business Administration, University of Virginia; Mr. Xiangjian HE, chairman and CEO of Midea Group; Mr. Michael Hitt, distinguished professor at Texas A&M University; Mr. Weihua MA, executive director, president and CEO of China Merchants Bank; Mr. Wenjing WANG, chairman and CEO of UFIDA. Mr. Ian Fok Chun-wan, CEO of Fok Ying Tung Group, who is also the board member, wished the meeting a great success by correspondence. SYSU Deputy Secretary Prof. Ping LI and other SYSBS leaders were also invited. During the meeting, the board members and SYSU leaders discussed the developmental strategies for SYSBS.

During the discussion session, Prof. Ruihua LU extended his delight to see the rapid development of SYSBS and advised to EMBA development. Prof. Rongrong LI presented instructive suggestions to the board and emphasized the need of SYSBS to capitalize on strengths. Based on his own experience, Mr. Weihua MA expressed his opinions in terms of SYSBS internationalization, localization, and cooperation with enterprises and Lingnan Culture. Mr. Ming-Jer CHEN stated his points from the perspectives of the development of entrepreneurs, talent training, the process of internationalization, and introduction of talented human resource. Prof. Michael Hitt put forward his ideas in the aspects of alumni connection of business schools, and cultural differences. Mr. Wenjing WANG underlined the cultivation of undergraduates, the establishment of undergraduate training base and cooperation programs between UFIDA and SYSBS. Mr. Jianxiang HE presented his willingness to support the development of SYSBS, and came up with the subject of management and innovation from the perspective of enterprises as well as interaction and cooperation between enterprises and SYSBS.

Through the meeting, the board members had a deeper understanding towards SYSBS, and put forward pertinent advice on SYSBS strategic development and specific implementing measures.
