Huizhou Daily News  Recently, the “Huizhou-SYSU Chemical Technology Joint Research Center” co-built by Huizhou University and Huizhou Research Institute of Sun Yat-sen University (hereinafter referred to as SYSU HRI) was officially inaugurated at Daya Bay Science and Technology Innovation Park. Peng Yonghong, President of Huizhou University; Ji Hongbing, Director of SYSU HRI and Deputy Director of Huizhou Daya Bay Economic and Technological Development Zone (National) Administrative Commission; and Chen Dongzhao, Deputy Director of Huizhou Daya Bay Economic and Technological Development Zone (National) Administrative Commission, unveiled the center and presented appointment certificates to 11 teachers from Huizhou University, who became specially appointed teachers of SYSU HRI.

"Co-building a chemical technology research and development center with Huizhou University is a starting point for the cooperation between SYSU HRI and local universities, and future comprehensive cooperation and exchange.” Ji Hongbing expressed the hope to work together with Huizhou University to build the research and development center into one of the best centers serving local development. Peng Yonghong emphasized that Huizhou University should take root and serve local economic development. He expressed that more disciplines would get involved in the chemical technology research and development center in the future.

It is learned that through giving full play to the advantages of both sides, the center will achieve overall breakthroughs and development in scientific research innovation, industry-university-research cooperation, and chemical technology education. Focusing closely on the characteristics of Daya Bay’s petrochemical industry, the establishment of the joint center will carry out scientific research work, provide strong support for technology innovation of related industries, and promote achievement transformation and industrialization. Meanwhile, the joint center will actively contribute to science and technology innovation, intellectual property right and achievement incubation in Daya Bay Science and Technology Innovation Park. So far, the main cooperation and research directions cover 5 technological areas including green chemical process, functional fine chemicals, research and development of new materials, heat transmission and energy saving, as well as emission reduction and resource reuse.
