The inspection and acceptance meeting of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Mineral Resources & Geological Processes (GDMine) at the Department of Earth Sciences of Sun Yat-sen University was held in SYSU on April 28, 2013. The meeting was organized by Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology. Huang Ningsheng, President of the Guangzhou Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, acted as the expert panel leader. Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU, and Xia Lianghui, Assistant President and Executive Deputy Director of the Office of Scientific Research and Development, attended the meeting.

Zhou Yongzhang, Director of GDMine, reported on the work and achievements of GDMine in lab facility construction, research projects and talent cultivation.

The panel agreed that GDMine has made new progress in the research fields including the prospect of Qinhang metallogenic belt and 3S technologies, and improved the level of exploration and prediction of dominant and strategic minerals in Guangdong, which was quite meaningful to spur the mineral exploration and green mining industry. The expert panel unanimously decided that GDMine passed the inspection and acceptance. The expert panel also gave advice on the introduction and training of young academic leaders, and the perfection of facilities for large scale instruments and equipment in order to make GDMine a national key laboratory.

Dong Meiling, Deputy Director of the Office of Major Projects and Bases Management, attended the meeting to give guidance and speech. Zhang Ke, Head of the Department of Earth Sciences; Tang Rui, Secretary of the Department of Earth Sciences; Yang Xiaoqiang, Deputy Head of the Department of Earth Sciences; Zhang Chengbo, Deputy Director of GDMine; and Zhong Lili attended the meeting.
