According to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), three SYSU professors are selected into the 2013 innovative talents promotion plan. Professor He Xionglei from School of Life Sciences and Professor Xie Dan from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center are listed as “Leading Young and Middle-aged Science and Technology Innovative Talents”. The team led by Professor Ma Jun from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center is included into “Innovative Teams in Key Fields”. Meanwhile, Sun Yat-sen University is selected as an “Innovative Talents Cultivation Demonstration Base”.

The innovative talents promotion plan of MOST started in 2012 with the aim to foster a batch of world-class scientists, leading science and technology talents and engineers, outstanding innovative teams and entrepreneurial talents, build a batch of innovative talents cultivation demonstration bases, lead the development of all types of science and technology talents, and provide talent support for improving innovative capabilities and building an innovative country.
