In recent years, under the support of State Natural Science Funds Key Projects, Foundation for Distinguished Youth Projects and Project 973 and so on, a research team led by Professor Song Erwei has done a further research on the effects of uncontrollable inflammation of breast cancer and found a significant uncontrollable inflammation factor in breast cancer tissue, that is Tumor-Associated Macrophages, (TAM). Through secreting inflammatory factor CCL18, TAM can promote the infiltration and metastasis of breast cancer.

Song Erwei is a chief physician, professor, doctorial tutor, vice-president of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital and academic leaders of Department of Medicine, breast cancer branch.
