On October 18th and 19th, the Joint Forum & Workshop of The First Affiliated Hospital, SYSU & UT Southwestern Medical Center was held in The First Affiliated Hospital. President Xu Ningsheng expressed the hope to further improve the level of clinical teaching, medical service and discipline construction through the cooperation between The First Affiliated Hospital, SYSU and UT Southwestern Medical Center in his speech. Wang Shenming, President of The First Affiliated Hospital, Dwain Thiele, Deputy President of UT Southwestern Medical Center and Zhu Dongyan, Director of Cooperation and Exchange Office, Bureau of Science and Information Technology of Guangzhou Municipality delivered speeches respectively and extended congratulations on the opening of the Join Forum & Workshop.
　　　
The Join Forum & Workshop have 4 topics including internal medicine, surgery, organ transplantation and cardiovascular medicine. Experts from The First Affiliated Hospital and UT Southwestern Medical Center exchanged views about their research fields, shared their research results and discussed further cooperation. The two sides also reached initial cooperation intention on postdoctoral exchange program, joint young talents training program, holding of high level international conference, joint application for international scientific research fund and continuing education program.
 
It is learned that in 2010, The First Affiliated Hospital signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement with UT Southwestern Medical Center to carry out cooperation in clinical research and medical education. After The First Affiliated Hospital sent young talents to UT Southwestern Medical Center for exchange program and sent backbone doctors and nurses for clinical observation, this workshop is another important part of the cooperation between the two sides.
