From December 13 to 15, the delegation of global health experts from China Medical Board (CMB), including Roman Xu, Director of CMB's Beijing Office, Judith Wasserheit and Stephen Gloyd, Professors from University of Washington, and Molly Cooke, Professor from University of California, San Francisco, visited SYSU.

On the afternoon of December 13, the keynote lecture on global health was held on North Campus. LI Mengfeng, Vice President of SYSU, delivered a welcome speech. HAO Yuantao, Secretary of Party Committee of School of Public Health, LIU Xianguo, Deputy Dean of Zhongshan School of Medicine, ZHANG Meifen, Deputy Dean of School of Nursing, and more than 100 teachers and students from medical schools attended the lecture. Professor Judith Wasserheit, Professor Stephen Gloyd and Professor Molly Cooke introduced the development situation of global health in the U.S., and presented the strength and resources of University of Washington and University of California, San Francisco, in terms of global health. They also introduced to the teachers and students present about the two universities’ current programs of master's degree, doctoral degree and young teacher training in global health. SYSU Professor HAO Yuantao introduced the University's progress situation in the field of global health. The audience raised questions on global health issues in China and the U.S., especially in the two American universities.

On December 14, the delegation of global health experts from CMB held a seminar with leaders, senior professors and young scholars from medical schools at SYSU. Vice President LI Mengfeng introduced the general situation of the University's medical sciences and its strength in global health research. Both sides talked over future cooperation in capacity building of global health between Sun Yat-sen University and University of Washington as well as University of California, San Francisco.
