On the afternoon of November 5, 2015, a delegation led by Prof. Scott Sheppard, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development) of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Members of the QUT delegation also included Prof. Ian Mackinnon, Director of Institute of Future Environment, and representatives from the Science and Engineering Faculty, Research Development and QUT International.

Prof. Yan Guangmei, Vice President of SYSU met with the QUT delegation in Zhongshan Building on South Campus, accompanied by Prof. Ling Wenhua, Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, Mr. Zhu Libin, ?Deputy Director of Academic Training Office of Graduate School, Prof. Wang Xuemei, Associate Dean of School of Environmental Science and Engineering, and representatives from Office of Scientific Research and School of Public Health.


Prof. Yan Guangmei extended a warm welcome to the guests. He hoped that the two universities can expand cooperation and conduct scientific research through the platform of National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou.

Prof. Scott Sheppard said that since QUT signed a MOU with Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology in March this year, QUT and SYSU have made substantial achievements in collaborative researches in the fields of air quality science, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, seasonal disease prevention and control, public health, and information software.

The two sides also exchanged opinions on deepening student exchanges, faculty visits, research collaborations, and expanding joint graduate training programs.
