On October 19, 2016, a delegation led by Mr. Christian Estrosi, President of Région Provence Alpes C?te d'Azur (PACA region), visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Li Ping, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, met with the delegation in Zhongshan Building on Guangzhou South Campus.

Prof. Li extended a warm welcome to Mr. Estrosi, and introduced SYSU’s development plans for the future as well as its collaborations and exchanges with French universities. Prof. Li noted that SYSU has a good basis of cooperation with universities in the PACA region, and she hoped that the two sides could have more win-win projects of cooperation and exchange in the future.

Mr. Estrosi thanked SYSU for the warm reception. He said that each university in the PACA region has its own advantages, and he hoped to promote their cooperation with SYSU. He also supported student exchanges between these universities and SYSU.

SYSU attendees of the meeting also included Prof. Luo Qiuju, Deputy Dean of School of Tourism Management, Prof. Yang Depo from School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Prof. Zhao Yong, Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange. Mr. Bertrand Furno, Consul-General of France in Guangzhou, was also present at the meeting.
