On the morning of May 16, to better understand the University's current work, the Pensioners Office and the Party & Administration Joint Office of East Campus organized over 20 directors of SYSU Senior Professors Association to visit Guangzhou Supercomputing Center (GSC) and the state key laboratories on East Campus.

Secretary Zheng Detao came to the event in person, communicated face to face with the senior professors and introduced relevant projects. He thanked the senior professors for their contribution to the University, and hoped that they would offer suggestions to promote the development of all aspects of the University.

On the first floor of the library, Zhou Fan, Deputy Director of GSC, introduced the basic situation of GSC, including its objective and role, and showed the planning and prospect of the project. The senior professors also watched a car crash simulation and experienced the huge role of supercomputing.

In the School of Life Sciences, Wu Shaoxin, Secretary of the School of Life Sciences; Feng Shuang, Deputy Dean of the School of Life Sciences; Liu Lingyan, Deputy Director of State Key Laboratory of Biocontrol, introduced the basic situation in talent cultivation, discipline construction, scientific research and teaching, especially the construction of State Key Laboratory of Biocontrol, and then led the senior professors to visit the lab.

In the State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies, Professor Chen Jun introduced the main research direction, various research projects, achievements transformation and social service capabilities. In the laboratory of flat panel display materials and technologies, the senior professors learned about the working principles of relevant optoelectronic materials and chips as well as their applications in daily life.

The senior professors were very excited about the high-tech development of the University, and actively asked questions and offered suggestions on related issues.
