SYSU signs Key Technology Partnership Agreement with UTC

On April 9, witnessed by Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) signed the Key Technology Partnership agreement with University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) in Beijing. The agreement was signed by SYSU Vice President Yan Guangmei and UTS Vice-Chancellor Ross Milbourne. Australian Tertiary Education Minister Craig Emerson, Chairman of Kingold Group Companies Limited Dr Chau Chak Wing, Australian Ambassador to China Frances Adamson, Director of International Engagement of UTS Leo Mian Liu, and Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange of SYSU Ling Wenhua also attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.

According to the agreement, the two universities will establish Key Technology Partnership (KTP) in order to enhance exchange in educational and cultural affairs. The two institutions will collaborate on student exchange program, joint research center project, joint doctoral degree/master’s degree program and visiting scholar program.
On the same day, SYSU and UTS also signed the framework agreement of dual doctoral degree program and the student exchange program agreement. The two institutions plan to start the two programs in the second half of this year.
The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) was founded in 1843. It originated from Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts and was officially renamed the University of Technology, Sydney in 1987. At present, UTS is a top ranking comprehensive university with strengths in business, law, education, science and technology. Currently, UTS has signed KTP agreements with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Shanghai University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India.
