The Government Work Report of this year pointed out that we should strengthen marine integrated management, develop marine economy and improve the ability of marine resources utilization. During the NPC and CPPCC meetings, Sun Yat-sen University and Guangdong Dahuanong Animal Health Products Co., Ltd. formally signed an industry-university-research collaboration agreement in Beijing, which takes developing the South China Sea’s marine ecological industry as its core.

It is learned that on the basis of previous collaborations, both sides plan to carry out closer cooperation in industry-university-research coordinative innovation centering on the exploitation of the South China Sea’s living marine resources. The strategic cooperation between the two sides will give full play to SYSU’s technology and talent advantages in the field of marine biotechnology, use the achievement transformation platform and financial strength of Dahuanong, and jointly establish a marine biotechnology coordinative innovation union. The in-depth collaboration will speed up the process of building SYSU into a high-level university, boost the industrial optimization of Dahuanong, provide technology reserves for the utilization of South China Sea’s marine resources, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of marine ecological industry.
