Food and drug safety is a prominent issue of concern. In the recent two years, food safety incidents frequently happened, and the antibiotics contamination of soil is serious. Research has found that spreading and proliferating through environmental medium such as water, soil and air, as well as animals and plants, the induced bacteria strain carrying antibiotic resistance genes propagate rapidly. Those microbes then enter into the human body in various ways. At present, what concerns us is the antibiotics-contaminated soil.

A 45-day chicken is feeded with 11 kinds of antibiotics, reflecting the phenomenon of antibiotics abuse in animal husbandry and aquaculture. This has caused the antibiotic resistance bacteria and antibiotic resistance genes to increase. Similar issues have also intensified concern over domestic milk powder or milk. As a new type of environmental pollutant, antibiotic resistance genes have drawn great attention to World Health Organization (WHO), and have been listed as one of the most serious challenges that threaten human health in the 21st century. This time I brought the proposal “ The State should Quickly Set up a Long-term and Effective Mechanism to Control Antibiotics Abuse”, with the aim to promote the formulation and improvement of limit standard and inspection method of the veterinary drug residue and fishery drug residue; include antibiotics contamination into the scope of national environmental monitoring, and enhance the research on new types of environmental pollutants like antibiotic resistance genes.
