China News Net, Guangdong, Guangzhou reported on Dec 30, the new building in the B Area of National University Science Park of Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen University, after 3 years construction, was officially opened on Dec 30.

The new building consists of 21 floors, and the gross area reaches 37,000 square meters.

It is said that the B Area of SYSU Science Park will focus on the development of enterprises and industrial cluster in the field of biomedicine, electronic information, new materials, environmental protection and medical equipment. The function areas are established on the basis of the science park’s concept, including: comprehensive service area, start-up and small technological company incubation area, well-known large and medium-scaled technological company development area.

At present, more than 70 enterprises have signed letter of intent for entry, including Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, Guangzhou Brach, Guangzhou Tianya Network Technology Co, ltd, Hisense and other well-known large enterprises.

Officials say the Science Park B Area is going to be built into the national university science park with complete supporting facilities, perfect service function, and first-rate management level. It aims to accelerate the integration of university scientific research achievements with market and capital, provide high-end value-added service for the enterprises to make use of scientific achievements, strive to build a high and new technology industry demonstration base with reasonable layout and scale, achieve strong regional exposure effect, so as to make contribution to the innovative country construction and regional economic development.

SYSU Science Park is one of the first national university science parks designated by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology, and now it has developed into 6 distriparks, which are the Main Incubation Distripark (Haizhu Distripark A area and B area), University Mega-center Distripark, Yuexiu Distripark, Science City Distripark, Zhuhai Distripark and Shenzhen Distripark. Among the enterprises in the park, electronic information and digital TV industry covers 60%, biomedicine, medical health and medical equipment industry covers 25%, new materials and environmental protection new energy industry covers 12%.
