Recently, the 2009 General Research Programs for Humanities and Social Science Granted by the Ministry of Education were released. Sun Yat-sen University has 41 projects approved, ranking the fifth among Higher Learning Institutes in China. SunYat-senUniversity applied for 118 projects in total in the year of 2009 with an application rate of 34.7%. the departments winning the approved projects are as follows: 9 for Lingnan College, 6 for School of Business and School of Education respectively, 3 for School of Law, 2 for School of Geography and Planning, Center for Studies of Hong Kong, Macao and Pearl River Delta, Department of History, Department of Philosophy and Schoolof Information Management respectively. 1 for Department of Chinese, School of Sociology and Anthropology, School of Government, School of Foreign Languages, School of Asian-Pacific Studies, School of International Business and School of Tourism and Management respectively.
