SYSU Education Development Foundation
As a non-profit organization in the realm of higher education, the SYSU Education Development Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the “Foundation”) was registered with the Department of Civil Affairs of Guangdong Province. The Foundation aims at promoting the development of SYSU. By means of strengthening the tie between SYSU and different sectors of society, as well as proactively soliciting national and international support or donations, the Foundation is geared to enhancing teaching and academic research.
The Foundation receives and manages donations from all circles of society to support SYSU’s educational cause, academic research and teaching activities, assist teachers in attending international exchanges, reward excellent students, provide financial aid for needy students, and improve teaching facilities including university buildings, equipment, and libraries.
Donors can specify the use of donations. Guided by its principle that many a little makes a mickle, since its establishment, the Foundation has been active in making and implementing fund-raising plans and acting as a bridge between SYSU and society. It has thus encouraged more and more prominent members of society to express their concern and support for SYSU, widened the funding sources, and fostered the sustainable development of SYSU.
The Foundation expresses heartfelt gratitude to the alumni and friends from all circles of society who have always cared about and supported SYSU’s growth. The Foundation sincerely hopes that everybody will contribute to the future of SYSU.

Scholarships
SYSU prides itself in fostering excellent students nationwide. About 60,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students are admitted every year. SYSU bears the responsibility of training these students to be the pillars of our nation. Therefore, SYSU is devoted to establishing scholarships to encourage excellent students to make more progress while facilitating those in need of financial support to overcome difficulties and to finish their studies. The Foundation sincerely seeks support from society. It aims to create an ambiance that encourages underprivileged yet excellent students to study and excel in their professions.

Yat-sen Chair Professor
SYSU adheres firmly to its educational values based on Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary visions, and stays committed to nurturing a new breed of graduates. They will stand out in their professions and have strong competence to cope with challenges in the ever-changing society. To this end, SYSU strives to build up an experienced academic team. Additionally, SYSU plans to set up several projects, recruit top scholars and outstanding young talents at home and abroad, cultivate first-class academic echelons, and hire internationally renowned scholars to conduct long-term teaching and give public lectures. By doing so, SYSU intends to broaden students’ horizons. The Foundation sincerely invites people from all walks of life to support us in building up a strong academic team.

Campus Construction
SYSU has five campuses in three cities, which are Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen, along with ten affiliated hospitals. The South Campus and the North Campus in Guangzhou are important provincial historic sites, with 66 historic buildings under provincial historic preservation. The historical relics at SYSU are in need of urgent repair. Besides, the teaching, experimental and administrative facilities need to be improved. To foster an environment that encourages intellectual inquiry, social interaction, self-expression and mutual support, the Foundation sincerely invites people of all circles to support the development of campus surroundings.
At present, all campus construction projects are about to be launched, and visionary people from all walks of life are cordially invited to support and actively participate in them.

Donations from society and alumni which are not restricted to particular projects will be applied to the most important and urgent projects that promote SYSU’s comprehensive development. To ensure their appropriate allocations, the donations will be managed with great care. The Foundation will not only assist SYSU in dealing with the opportunities and challenges in its development, but also upgrade the teaching and research facilities. With the donations, we can focus more on the key academic programs, reward outstanding teachers and students, and underpin the projects related to educational development.
