On April 15, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC), Guangdong Provincial Anticancer Association, and Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention launched the 20th National Cancer Prevention and Treatment Week. More than 20 SYSUCC experts were sent to give lectures in 20 communities of 12 districts in Guangzhou. Over 6,000 leaflets on cancer prevention were distributed. About 2,000 citizens took part in the activities.

SYSUCC specialist in colorectal cancer Prof. Wan Desen, experts in cancer control Prof. Liao Zhener, Prof. Hu Weihan and Prof. Xu Boping, senior nurses Xin Mingzhu, Zheng Meichun, Fan Yuying, Hu Lianying and Liu Yushan, gave lectures in the communities. Specialist in liver cancer Chen Minshan, Specialist in gastric cancer Zhou Zhiwei and specialist in colorectal cancer Wu Xiaojun gave lectures at SYSUCC and interacted with the audiences.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the founding of SYSUCC. The week-long series of health education activities provided the public with general knowledge of cancer prevention and treatment.
