On the morning of April 29, the meeting for celebrating May Day and for commending the model workers of Guangdong Province was held in the auditorium of the provincial party committee. The First Affiliated Hospital of our university was honored with the 2011 National May Day Labor Certificate, Wang Shenming, President of the First Affiliated Hospital, went on stage to accept the award on behalf of the hospital. Wang Yang, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Huang Huahua, Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Governor, Ou Guangyuan, Chairman of the Provincial Standing Committee of the NPC, Huang Longyun, Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Political Consultative Conference and other guests attended the meeting and gave awards to the representatives of the honorary units.
In recent years, the First Affiliated Hospital sticks to the public welfare nature of public hospitals, seriously implements the spirit of the medical and health system reform in the new age, and has been improving the quality of medical treatment and the standard of service. With these efforts, the First Affiliated Hospital has made remarkable achievements in aspects of medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and administration, fully completed the health care tasks of ice disaster relief during the Spring Festival transportation peak, earthquake disaster relief of Wenchuan and Yushu, as well as the Asian Games, enjoying praises from the government and the people from all walks of life.
It is said that 306 units in total have received National May Day Labor Certificate across the nation with Guangdong Province claiming 17 of them. The First Affiliated Hospital is the only first-rate hospital of upper first-class hospital that has received the honor within Guangdong Province.
