On April 9th, the 2011 Sino-US Gastrointestinal Disease Summit Forum – Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Symposium was held in Guangzhou. The symposium was jointly held by the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of SYSU, Cleveland Clinic, the First Affiliated Hospital of SYSU and the editorial department of Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. Wang Jianping, the vice-president of SYSU and director of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital, and Professor Hu Pinjin, leader of Chinese Medical Association Digestive Disease Branch IBD were the presidents of the symposium. More than 250 domestic and overseas doctors and graduate students from Department of Gastroenterology, department of communicable disease, department of Nutrition and department of general surgery were present at the symposium.
