On November 6th, a delegation of Griffith University led by Vice Chancellor and President Carolyn Evans and Vice President Sarah Todd, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU).
Executive Vice President Xiao Haipeng met with the guests in Zhongshan Building, Guangzhou South Campus. Representatives from the School of Public Health, Guanghua School of Stomatology, School of Biomedical Engineering, and the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange attended the meeting.
Executive Vice President Xiao Haipeng warmly welcomed the guests and introduced to them SYSU's basic situation and recent achievements of reform and development. He said that Griffith University and SYSU have a long history of exchanges, and have carried out student exchanges, joint training, scientific research and other cooperation in the fields of life sciences, environmental science and engineering, tourism management, medicine and dentistry. He hoped that the two universities would re-establish a student exchange mechanism to provide students with more international learning opportunities.
President Carolyn Evans expressed her gratitude for the warm hospitality. She had planned to visit SYSU at the beginning of her tenure in 2019, but was unable to do so. She was delighted to be able to visit SYSU and renew the memorandum of understanding on behalf of Griffith University, and she looked forward to this visit to strengthen the foundation and provide support for the subsequent cooperation between the two universities.
At the meeting, President Carolyn Evans and Executive Vice President Xiao Haipeng, as representatives of the two universities, signed the Memorandum of Understanding between Griffith University, Australia and Sun Yat-sen University, China.

Representatives from the School of Public Health, Guanghua School of Stomatology and School of Biomedical Engineering had in-depth exchanges with representatives of Griffith's School of Medicine & Dentistry at the meeting. The two sides will continue to promote cooperation in the fields of climate change, disaster management, future health, and medical-engineering integration, in the form of scientific research, faculty and student exchange, and joint training.
