On the afternoon of October 15, 2018, a delegation led by Professor S Bruce Dowton, Vice-Chancellor and President of Macquarie University, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Members of the delegation also included Professor Stephen Brammer, Executive Dean of Faculty of Business and Economics; Ms Nicole Brigg, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) of Macquarie University; Professor Philomena Leung, Associate Dean International of Faculty of Business and Economics; and Mr Stephen Fan, Associate Director China Engagement.
SYSU President Luo Jun meeting with Professor S Bruce Dowton, Vice-Chancellor and President of Macquarie University
SYSU President Luo Jun and Vice President Xiao Haipeng met with the guests on Guangzhou South Campus. Representatives from School of Business, School of Public Health, and Office of International Cooperation & Exchange attended the meeting.
President Luo Jun extended a warm welcome to the guests, and introduced SYSU’s history, campus construction, recent development, advantageous disciplines, and cooperation with Australian universities. He pointed out that the cooperation between SYSU and Macquarie University has become closer in recent years, and he expressed the hope to deepen and expand the cooperation and exchange between the two universities.
Vice-Chancellor and President S Bruce Dowton thanked SYSU for the warm reception, and presented an introduction to Macquarie University. He said that the two universities have laid a good foundation for cooperation, and many schools and departments have conducted collaborations to various extents. He hoped to promote the exchange and cooperation between the two sides at different levels and in various fields through this visit.
During the visit, the delegation held in-depth discussions with deans and professors from SYSU’s School of Public Health, and School of Business, and gave a presentation about the current research projects at Faculty of Business and Economics of Macquarie University to the master's and doctoral students from SYSU’s School of Business.

SYSU’s School of Business, School of International Studies, and Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital have conducted various exchanges and cooperation with Macquarie University.
