In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen Business School (SYSBS), the Big Gathering of “30th Anniversary Celebration of SYSBS and Appreciation to Ho’s Education Foundation” was held in K. K. Leung Hall of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) on March 14, 2015. The guests of honor present were Prof. Detao Zheng (Party Secretary of SYSU), Prof. Rongrong Li (Honorary Dean of SYSBS), members from SYSBS Advisory Board, members of the Ho’s Education Foundation of Hong Kong, representatives of Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Foundation, representatives of strategic partners, retired faculty, professors, students, and alumni throughout the country, a total of approximately 1,500 attendees. The Gathering was hosted by Prof. Jinsong Tan (Party Secretary of SYSBS) and Mr. Yu Lan (Associate Dean of SYSBS).
In the opening remarks, Prof. Detao Zheng spoke highly of the success obtained by SYSBS and expressed his best wishes for the future development of SYSBS. Prof. Rongrong Li praised the achievements of SYSBS and expected that SYSBS could confront the ongoing challenges and continue to cultivate business talents for the society.
Prof. Zhongfei Li, Executive Dean of SYSBS, expressed sincere thankfulness to all the faculty and all the supporters contributing to the prosperousness of SYSBS, especially the Ho’s Education Foundation. He reviewed the development history of SYSBS, and reemphasized that the core value (“Study Broadly, Enquire Solicitously, Think Critically, Discern Judiciously and Act Prudently”) inscribed by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founder of our university, will light our path; the vision (“to develop principled and talented leaders – becoming China's Whampoa Military Academy in business”) will guide our road; the mission (“to enrich our students by providing a flourishing learning environment and integrating Chinese and Western management wisdom, grounded in integrity, innovation and social responsibility”) will propel us to go forward. SYSBS aims at a more thriving long-term development in the next decade.
To highlight the heartfelt gratitude of SYSBS to the Ho’s Education Foundation, following the speech delivered by Ms. Hing Lan Ho (President of the Ho’s Education Foundation), Prof. Rongrong Li and Prof. Jinsong Tan presented souvenirs to all members of the Ho’s Education Foundation.

In the following session, former leaders of SYSBS, including Prof. Xuerou Li, Prof. Zhongping Qiu, Prof. Baoyan Gu, Prof. Yunshi Mao, Prof. Minghai Wei, Prof. Xinchun Li, Prof. Hua Yu and Prof. Yadong Luo, spoke with high hope for SYSBS and received the respect and appreciation from student representatives.
Meanwhile, representatives of retired faculty, alumni, professors and students all shared their experience in SYSBS and their profound love for this business school. Apart from that, alumni in different countries and other business schools also presented their goodwill to SYSBS.
Along with the display of the well-wishing video and the slogan of “I Love SYSBS” shown by students, the 30th anniversary gathering came to an end in a warm and lovely atmosphere.
