On November 5, the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED) donated a new generation of well-logging software CIFLog to Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). The donating ceremony was held in Zhongshan Building on South Campus of SYSU. Prof. Zou Caineng, Vice President of RIPED; Prof. Li Ning, Deputy Director of Department of Well-logging and Remote Sensing Technology of RIPED; Prof. Li Mengfeng, Vice President of SYSU; and Prof. Sun Xiaoming, Deputy Dean of School of Marine Sciences of SYSU; attended the ceremony.

Prof. Li Mengfeng congratulated RIPED on its contributions to the scientific and technological development in our country. He said that the well-logging software will facilitate the lab construction and marine geological research at SYSU as well as the construction of South China Sea Resource Exploitation and Protection Collaborative Innovation Center. He hoped that SYSU and RIPED will strengthen collaborative innovation and explore a new future for the basic oil and gas geological research and resource development in South China Sea.
Prof. Zou Caineng introduced RIPED and the purpose of this donation, and expressed the hope to strengthen industry-university-research cooperation. Prof. Li Ning introduced the development of CIFLog and its applications in oil fields at home and abroad. RIPED donated 30 sets of the software to School of Marine Sciences of SYSU.
On behalf of SYSU, Prof. Li Mengfeng accepted the donation from RIPED and presented a certificate of gratitude to Prof. Zou Caineng.
After the ceremony, Prof. Zou Caineng also visited the key laboratories of School of Marine Sciences, and discussed non-conventional oil and gas exploration and development with faculty members of School of Marine Sciences.
