On August 27, the signing ceremony of the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement between Sun Yat-sen University and Baise Municipal People’s Government & the Agreement on Partner Assistance and Cooperation in Running Schools between Sun Yat-sen University and Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities and Baise University was held in Baice, Guangxi. Peng Xiaochun, Secretary of the CPC Baise Municipal Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Baise Municipal People's Congress, and Xu Ningsheng, President of Sun Yat-sen University, addressed the ceremony.

signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement on behalf of the two sides respectively.
The attendees of the ceremony included Yang Chunting, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Baise Municipal Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor of Baise; Huang Ruiqiong, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Baise Municipal Committee and Secretary-General of the CPC Baise Municipal Committee; Zhu Kongjun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Baise Municipal Committee, Deputy Mayor of Baise, Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU; Liao Pinhu, President of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities; Tang Yongjun, President of Baise University; Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU; Xia Lianghui, Assistant President of SYSU; and Xu Ruihua, Director of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center.
Peng Xiaochun pointed out that as a less-developed area, Baise needs strong support in talent, science, technology and innovation. Deepening cooperation with SYSU is important for Baise’s development. He said that the CPC Baise Municipal Committee and Baise Municipal People’s Government will provide good environment and services for SYSU’s activities in Baise, make Baise a base for transformation of SYSU’s scientific research achievements, and realize mutual benefit and common development.
Xu Ningsheng introduced SYSU’s development. He said that strengthening links between SYSU and Baise to deepen collaborations in various fields is in accordance with the school-running idea of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the requirement of the CPC Central Committee and the cultural traditions of Guangdong and Guangxi. SYSU will use its strengths to promote transformation of scientific research achievements and talent cultivation, and make contributions to Baise’s economic and social development.
At the ceremony, Yang Chunting and Chen Chunsheng signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement on behalf of the two sides respectively. Chen Chunsheng also signed the agreement on partner assistance and cooperation in running schools with Liao Pinhu and Tang Yongjun respectively.
According to the strategic cooperation framework agreement, SYSU and Baise will conduct research in development strategy and provide decision-making consultation for Baise’s urban construction and industrial development. SYSU and Baise will conduct technological collaborations in advanced manufacturing, information technology, biomedicine, modern service and modern agriculture to promote Baise’s industrial transformation and upgrading. In educational cooperation, SYSU will provide more admission opportunities for excellent high school students in Baise, offer partner assistance to Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities and Baise University to improve teaching, research and faculty development. In medical services, SYSU will help Baise’s hospitals to improve management, technology and service through various forms and channels. Baise Municipal People’s Government will provide support in policy, funding and service for the collaboration projects and build a long-term cooperation model of mutual benefit and win-win progress. SYSU will also help Baise in human resources training, send professors and experts to give lectures in Baise, and select students to take part in social practices in Baise.
