On August 29, Professor Francis Marcoin, President of Université d'Artois, and Professor Emmanuel Fraisse, Vice-President of Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3, visited SYSU during their attendance of the 2013 New Urbanization Guangzhou Forum. Professor Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU; Professor Wang Bin, Academic & Administrative Supervisor of the School of International Studies of SYSU; and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of SYSU attended the meeting.
Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng meeting with President Francis Marcoin and Vice-President Emmanuel Fraisse
Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng extended his warm welcome to the two guests and introduced the basic situation and international cooperation and exchange of SYSU. President Francis Marcoin introduced the general situation of Université d'Artois, the characteristics of the French education system, and the foreign language teaching features of Université d'Artois. Vice-President Emmanuel Fraisse introduced the fine academic tradition of Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3, and hoped to collaborate with SYSU in research and postgraduate programs. Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng agreed with the Vice-President and said that the collaboration between the supervisors is crucial to joint cultivation of postgraduate students. The two universities should encourage and promote the communication and cooperation among the supervisors. During the meeting, the two sides also held discussions on issues such as strengthening collaborations among schools and joint doctoral programs.

After the meeting, on behalf of SYSU, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng signed a MOU on academic exchange with Vice-President of Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 Emmanuel Fraisse. At the early stage of cooperation, the two sides plan to launch a postgraduate exchange program and an internship program between the School of International Studies of SYSU and Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3.
