On August 14th, a delegation from the Ministry of Education, led by Vice Minister Hao Ping, visited East Campus of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and attended the symposium about International Cooperation and Exchanges in SYSU. Members of the delegation included Zhang Xiuqin, Director-General of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges; Ke Chunhui, Deputy Director-General of Department of Policies and Regulations; Chen Dali, Associate Consultant of General Office; Wang Yi; Deputy Division Chief of Division of Cross-border Education Partnership Department, International Cooperation and Exchanges; Shu Gangbo, Officer of General Office, Department of Policies and Regulations.
Li Xueming, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Education, Guangdong Province; Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee; Xu Ningsheng, President of SYSU; Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU; Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU; Li Wenjun, Assistant President of SYSU and Co-director of SYSU-CMU Joint Institute of Engineering; and other department and division heads attended the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Secretary Zheng Detao.
Vice Minister Hao Ping spoke highly of SYSU’s achievements in recent years. SYSU’s practice in establishing SYSU-CMU Joint Institute of Engineering, as Hao pointed out, was a distinctively unique cooperative model of international cooperation and exchanges in China.
The delegation visiting the display board
After the symposium, the delegation visited the display board of the building of Guangzhou Supercomputing Center and the building of SYSU-CMU Joint Institute of Engineering on East Campus. In front of the display board, JIE Co-director Li Wenjun introduced to Vice Minister Hao Ping the cooperation framework between SYSU and Carnegie Mellon University, JIE’s future construction plan and teaching & research facilities.
