The 2012 China Service Robot & RoboCup Family Service Robot Open officially started in Shanghai on May 11. Zeng Weilin and Rong Erhu, two students from SYSU School of Information Science and Technology (SIST), won two champions in the sessions of Natural Language Simulation and Command Language Simulation. Their instructor was Lecturer Zhuo Hankui from SIST.

China Service Robot Open is the most influential and authoritative national academic competition on robot technology for university students. This Open was hosted by Robot Competition Committee of Chinese Association of Automation (RCCCAA) and RoboCup. More than 30 well-known universities across the country took part in this open, including Shanghai Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology of China, Harbin Engineering University, and Sun Yat-sen University.
