Guangzhou, April 25, 2010, Southern Metropolis Daily: The Energy Industry is very attractive in terms of salary and welfare! Recently, the SYSU Career Development Association released two industry analysis reports on logistics and energy respectively. The reports first give a comprehensive introduction of the industries’ development, talents need and compensation system, and then make an analysis on the competitive competence of SYSU students in relevant industries. Meanwhile, the reports also include career plans and alumni’s experience.
It is said that, this series of industry analysis reports, compiled by students of the SYSU Student Career Development Association, has been released since 2007. The report chooses two hot sectors each year and now it has covered many sections such as fast moving consumer goods, information and communications, financial, electronic and electric products, real estate, consulting business, etc. Although the reports are tailor-made for SYSU students, they are still validating among students of universities in Southern China. According to the statistics of SYSU industry analysis reports, the salary and welfare of energy industry are very attractive. Talents in New energy technology can get 7000-15000 Yuan. However, there is a serious polarization in the income distribution of coal industry, with the boss getting millions but the management personnel only 3000-4000 Yuan.
Over the past 3 years, 175 graduate students of SYSU have entered the energy industry, with 66 talents in economics and management, 78 in science and engineering, 24 in literature and history, and 7 in other fields. The proportion of postgraduate is lower than undergraduate students. According to the reporting analysis, since some positions in energy industry require minimal professional skills, there is a big span across specialization and there are students form almost all majors entered this section. However, one energy enterprise generally recruits just a few students, no more than 10, even at SYSU. And we can see from the recruitment record over the last several years that the energy industry is one of the most competitive industries in terms of employment.
As for logistics, last year, no more than 30 SYSU students had entered logistic companies due to the financial crisis. But logistics will become a demanding occupation in employment as the economy revives.
