The contest has been co-sponsored by the Student Union of Life Science and experimental center for basic teaching of Sun Yat-Sen University Zhuhai campus for several years, mainly aiming at promoting the exploratory capability as well as encouraging innovative thinking of students. For the present, the match is only available for freshman and sophomore on Zhuhai campus.

The competition will last from April 10th to May 30th, up to 90 teams had signed up for it, but only 70 of them with better performance in the screening test are eligible for the preliminary, due to inadequate resources of our laboratory.

Additionally, among all these contenders, students from other majors besides Life Science, such as Marine Sciences, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering alsoaccount for a considerable share. Most participating teams were formed of four roommates in one dormitory; some even named their team with the room number. Han Crystal, captain of one team, said “I took part in this contest initially because of my interests in biology. Moreover, this competition provides us with an opportunity to develop our laboratory practice, which undoubtedly benefits a lot to our further study. By the way, the reward is quite appealing.” The winners will be awarded with certificates and prizes. What’s more, extra points will be added on GPA to some extent.
