Students of SYSU held a loving heart collection activity in order to raise donations for a young patient who is suffering from Mediterranean anemia

December 5th, Young Volunteers Association of SYSU carried out an activity “One Yuan Donation” in the East Campus, raising money for charity for Liao Peixin, a 9 years old n girl who is suffering from the acute β-thalassemia .Little Liao Peixin is the only survivor in the Mediterranean anemia fake medicine events of Zhujiang Hospital, who relies on long-term blood transfusions to eliminate iron or bone marrow transplant to maintain life, while the high cost of the treatment process is a problem to the family. Affected by the proposal of "everyone donates one Yuan, contributes a love, saves a life", the students of East Campus reached out to little Peixin one after another with generosity.

It is reported that over 30 thousand yuan of charity fund has been raised on the other three campuses of SYSU and will be carried out in colleges and universities like Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, to complete the relay of love. The flow direction of the proceeds will be supervised by Guangzhou Red Cross.
