The 4th South China Social and Economic Survey (Guangdong-Hong Kong collaboration project), cohosted by School of Geography and Planning of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and Chung Chi College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), was rounded off on the morning of August 17 on Zhuhai Campus of SYSU. Led by Professor Yongqin David Chen, twenty students from the two universities conducted the survey of social economy and education of national conditions in South China from August 10 to 17. During the two-week survey, the students visited many important financial institutions and planning agencies, and also paid visits to some local representative landscapes before they gave the final representation in Zhuhai.
This survey is conducted in Guangdong and Hong Kong by five groups on the themes of "Regional Governance and Cooperations", "Economic Models & Cooperations and Competitions", "Population Policy and Talent Training", "Infrastructure and Regional Integration", and "Environmental Protection and Cultural Conservation".

In Hong Kong, members of the survey visited the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Housing Authority, Hong Kong Museum of History etc. and listened to the lectures given by Professor Yongqin David Chen, Dr. Hongtai Zheng and Dr. Weixian Yin respectively.
Later in the second phase of the survey, students visited The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO), Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, The Exhibition Hall on the Planning and Construction of Hengqin, and benefited a lot from the lectures of Professor Lixun Li and Professor Xun Li. During the survey, members had many inspiring discussions and gained a lot; and they are about to work cooperatively on the final written report.
Through this survey, students from both universities have a better understanding of the current situation and future development of both areas and forged a profound friendship, thus prompting further exchanges and collaborations between SYSU and CUHK.
