The reporter learned from Guangzhou Municipal Science, Technology and Information Bureau yesterday that the supercomputer of Guangzhou 'Tian He II’ would be located in the East Campus of Sun Yat-sen University. Guangzhou government had signed the system development cooperation agreement and development contract with National University of Defense Technology, which symbolized the beginning of the substantive construction phase of Guangzhou supercomputer center project.

The project will set the office in the core area of Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, surrounded by schools and research laboratories of Sun Yat-sen University including School of Information Science and Technology, School of Software, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Life Science, State Key Laboratory of Photoelectric Materials and Technology, State Key Laboratory of Pest Biocontrol and Experimental Animals Center, while adjacent to Guangzhou International Biological Island.

Guangzhou Science and Information Bureau believed that the location would greatly facilitate the assemblance of more high-end technological innovation resources and industrial resources to this area, which would produce positive influence on regions nearby.
